The expenditures for the Local elections should be raised to support adequate organization and holding of the elections by the Central Election Commission. Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, made this statement in the interview for "Era" Radio Channel on Wednesday.
"First of all I mean the people working in the commissions", V. Lytvyn declared. Moreover, the Central Election Commission "is searching for the opportunities to reduce the expenses for publishing ballot papers, although they must be protected from the falsification."
"There is no other way out, as the date of election is 31 October; if this Law is not adopted, there will be all the grounds to declare that we disrupt the elections. I am convinced that it is necessary to eliminate any possibilities to discuss the issue. We should direct attention to the proper and fair conduction of the elections", the Head of the Parliament emphasised.
For reference: The Law of Ukraine "On State Budget of Ukraine 2010" sets the expenditures for
the program "Management of Elections and Referendums" at the rate UAH 37 009,4.
The bill "On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine "On State Budget of Ukraine 2010" included on the agenda on 23 September raises the budget expenses by UAH 8 531,0.
